(Video) Improve your skin with dandelions

We did a post on our Facebook page a few days ago, saying, “before you kill those dandelions, you may want to eat them.”  We immediately started getting responses and messages and realized this was something our viewers were interested in.  So that’s what inspired this video and post.  Enjoy!

Did you know dandelions can help improve your skin and even fight acne, eczema, fungus and ringworm?  That’s right. When juiced, or added to green smoothies, the sap (or milk) acts as a microbial which can fight germs and fungus, and help improve the skin.

But that’s just the beginning, dandelions are power packed with vitamins A and C, which help smooth, moisturize and restore damaged and aging skin while providing additional sun protection.

The calcium, iron, and detoxifiers in dandelions are beneficial to the bones, blood, liver, urinary tract, gall bladder, blood pressure and at the same time help fight anemia, diabetes and cancer.

If that’s enough to make you want to go out and start eating dandelions, great!   But just make sure they haven’t been sprayed with any fertilizers, insecticides or weed killers first.  If not, dig them up and wash them well.  Then throw them into salads, soups, and green smoothies.  One thing to keep in mind, the older the dandelions get, the more bitter they become.  When more bitter, it helps to add more fruit and honey to the recipe below.

For a quick drink your skin will love, blend:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup dandelion greens
  • 2 Tbs. raw honey
  • 1 Tbs. coconut or extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup blueberries

If you’re using a blender that’s not high powered, you may want to add 1 more cup of water and extra honey to thin the texture.  Blend, then add 1 more cup of water, and blend again.  Drink up, it’s not only healthy, but delicious too! For skin fungus, eczema and acne, you also may benefit by rubbing the dandelion flower directly onto the infected area.  It will help kill bacteria at the source and can speed up the healing process while inhibiting further breakouts from
occurring.

So the next time you see a field full of dandelions, instead of seeing an infestation of weeds, you’ll see a world of possibilities! Eat, drink, and stay young, vibrant and beautiful!!
