The Duke of Cambridge has launched The SkillForce Prince’s Award, in recognition of the contribution that young people make to their communities.
The Duke of Cambridge has developed the Award with SkillForce, of which he is Patron.
In a message of support to the charity, HRH The Duke of Cambridge said:
“I am immensely proud to put my name to the SkillForce Prince’s Award. It rewards young people who have made an outstanding contribution to their community, encouraging them to go further to nurture their personal, professional or educational development.
This year, 2012, sees the first phase of the award with young people from SkillForce projects across the United Kingdom taking part in activities to support their communities. The very best of these will be recognised through receipt of a SkillForce Prince’s Award.
SkillForce does remarkable work with young people – their staff are predominantly ex-service men and women who use their extensive life experience and leadership skills to encourage pupils to stay engaged with education and improve their future employability.
I would like to personally thank all those who took part in this inaugural phase of the award and I hope many young people will be inspired to take part in the future.”
