Natural Remedies for Dry Hands

Q&A

What would you recommend for very dry hands? I remember seeing something in a video Tiff did, but I can’t recall the name of it. My super dry hands thank you!   Aimee

answer

Without seeing, it’s hard to know the cause of your dryness, but one of the first things we’d recommend is to eliminate all soaps and shampoos with any type of sulphates, and fragrance.  Most commercial soaps that are “antibacterial” tend to be highly drying too. Those are huge culprits to stripping the natural oils and contributing to irritation.

It’s something you have to think about too, when you’re at commercial restrooms, restaurants, etc. because most of the soaps used there are cheap and loaded with stripping chemicals.  So we actually pack around small purse size bottles of “safe” soap.

Tip: If you look at our store, you’ll find a great selection of soaps that are all NK approved. Of course you could buy it from us or just use us as a resource…our goal is to help you get healthy naturally!

Also remember that water itself is extremely drying so wash as you need to, and then immediately hydrate with a good safe hydrator as soon as possible.

So here we go again, when it comes to moisturizers, look for lubricating moisture creams that are petroleum, fragrance, and paraben free.  Some excellent sources for hydration include Shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and vegetable glycerine.

Pssst, did you also know that you can actually wash your hands with pure coconut oil?  It works as an emuliant to lift impurities from the skin.  Just put it on dry hands and rub all over. Remove with a dry towel.  It’s actually a lifesaver for extra dry hands.

If you have more ideas, please share!  We love your input!!
