Beebe,
a town of about 4,900 people, to collect thousands of dead birds which began
falling from the sky late on New Year's Eve and continued into the next day. The commission states that the cause of death may have been stress from fireworks and not poisoning.

As of Saturday, between 4,000 and 5,000 birds had been found dead, the
Game and Fish Commission's Keith Stephens said.

This is so sad. There is a disctinct possibility that large firework displays could have frightened the flock as they were all flying over. It will be interesting to see the results from tests today.
