So many of times, those of us who are taking steps to live a more sustainable and green life feel overwhelmed by all the decisions to make, the behavior changes to implement, and the new information coming in from the field.
My recommendation if you are thinking about being more green is: do just one green thing a day.
If you have a long journey ahead of you, it can be overwhelming to think about moving forward, but if you have just one step you have to take — anyone can take that one step, right?
If you have a huge task, say a giant report to compile, or a large project that will take hundreds of personhours, or a massive shipment of inventory that needs unpacking and sorting, it can be overwhelming to think about doing the whole thing all at once, but you can do one thing at a time. You can do research from one website. You can write one page (or one paragraph!). You can organize one dozen items.
If you're starting or growing your green business, consider the large list of overall goals for the company, then break each one down into day-to-day deliverables. Make one phone call. Meet one supplier. Get one distributor.
When you break down your large task into a series of manageable tasks, you'll feel better and you'll be more motivated to complete that one thing.
What's your one green thing to do today?
If you do one green thing a day, or make one more sustainable decision a day, or make a purchase from one more green business a day, at the end of a year that's 365 incremental changes — which is huge.
Do just one green thing a day.
