Climate Community Citizen of the Week – Lisa N.

Congratulations to Lisa N this weeks Climate Community Citizen of the Week!

Lisa N. is a junior at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex in Los Angeles, California. She is recognized for her endless commitment to the community and environment through her work as a California Roots & Shoots council member and as a leader for her school club, Urban Empowerment.

Urban Empowerment is comprised of a group of students dedicated to understanding and solving the many environmental and social justice problems inflicting their community and beyond. Though Lisa is well rounded in all areas of activism, her main passion for change is with global warming.

Her commitment to making a difference was recognized by her peers and Dr. Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots organization when two years ago she became one of the 13 members of the Roots & Shoots California Youth Leadership Council. During her time on the council Lisa has accomplished many things and made a significant difference for her community and the environment as a whole. This past year Lisa helped to organized a large scale Los Angeles river clean up, attended a national summit to collaborate with Roots & Shoots council members from across the nation, organized community events, done hours and hours of outreach, mentored younger students about environmental issues and spoken at many conferences.


Lisa credits the positive influence and guidance of her friends for helping her to realize her ability to make change happen.
