The following is a bit of information about Erin:

Erin Viera is a recent addition to the Roots & Shoots California regional staff. Her enthusiasm, experience and expertise doing outreach make her a perfect fit for the California region.

"Erin has a unique approach in educating our students and partners in California," according to Karen Oxrider, Roots & Shoots California Regional Director. "She inspires others with her enthusiasm and knowledge. Whether it's making T-shirts into dog toys or sharing knowledge
about sharks, Erin encourages all to provide service in a special way."

Originally from northern California, Erin has lived in Los Angeles for a year and a half. In her previous position at A World Fit for Kids, she served as project development coordinator, overseeing nutrition education for students and families in Los Angeles Unified School District communities. She served on a panel developing guidelines for nutrition and physical education standards in California's after-school programs.

Many of the skills acquired at A World Fit for Kids will translate well to Erin's Roots & Shoots job. She will continue to work with schools and network with educators and youth organizations.

"I have loved all the educational outreach," said Erin. "Seeing kids excited about making a difference gives me so much energy!"

Erin earned a bachelor's of science degree in psychology from San Diego State University. She spends her leisure time with her new husband and their dog, Lily. Together enjoy the outdoors very much – they hike, backpack and even herd sheep!

It is wonderful working with Erin and with Roots and Shoots we at The Climate Community look forward to a great year ahead.

Congratulations Erin, and keep up the great work!
