Personally, we never buy bottled water any more, but we know lots of people who do. Yes, you can recycle the bottles, but isn't it better to come up with fun ways to use them yourself? If you've got kids or just love to have fun like a kid on a hot summer's day, we've got a quick, simple green idea for you and those bottles. The "bottle bubble blower" can be used over and over. These make a great activity and take-home gift for a child's birthday party too.
Our family was on vacation last week at the Wildwood Resort in Bellingham, WA, where the hosts had prepared this activity. Kids came out of the woodwork and spent an hour happily blowing thousands of humongous bubbles. (And to be honest, lots of adults wanted to try as well.)
Instructions:
1. Take the cap off and cut off the bottom of a plastic bottle.
2. Cut an old washcloth or piece of terry cloth (from an old bathrobe?) into a 5-6" square (doesn't have to be exact)
3. With a rubber band or piece of string, secure the cloth over the open bottom.
4. Dip the end with the wash cloth into some biodegradable dish soap
5. Blow on the "sipping" end and watch thousands of bubbles emerge.
