Eco-Panda, Earth’s First Recycled Swimwear Line Launches

Friday, 22 May 2009 14:30 by GreenGirls

Eco-Panda has splashed onto the apparel scene with its revolutionary line of eco-chic swimwear. Its fresh collection combines high-fashion with eco-friendly components, making it one of the first eco-swimwear lines to appear in the swimwear market and industry. Eco-Panda swimwear is comprised of recycled nylon and Xtra Life Lycra, creating a garment that lasts three times longer than the average swimsuit. Eco-Panda holds the exclusive rights to recycled nylon here is the US, making it a tough act for any competitor to follow.

Each collection is a limited edition, without plans for re-production when the collections sell through. New styles will be released monthly, including a couture line available early June. Eco-Panda believes that eco-apparel can be both fashion-forward and affordable, making the best of both worlds’ reality for today’s consumer.

The Summer 2009 Collection
boasts fierce prints and electric hues complete with essentials such as cover-ups and totes. The collection draws on global inspiration, with design collections such as “Montego Bay”, “Tokyo Station”, “Marrakech”, and “Jungle Beat”.

DARE TO COMPARE: The Eco-Panda Difference

Eco-Panda will forever change the swimwear industry with their groundbreaking technology that incorporates the best recycled materials available, including recycled nylon made from fish nets into their swimwear. By combining this nylon with Xtra Life Lycra, each piece of swimwear will retain its shape and fit longer than other suits that are used in chlorinated waters. This results in the average suit lasting twice as long as swimwear made with other chlorine resistant spandex, and ten times longer than swimwear made with regular spandex, which means that less swimwear will be disposed of. By using recycled nylon, Eco-Panda helps sustain the environment for future generations by diminishing greenhouse gas emissions that lead to global warming, minimizing the use of landfill sites and incineration, and it helps prevent exhaustion of our limited natural petroleum resources. In fact, recycled nylon uses 27% less natural petroleum resources, and emits 28% less greenhouse gases.

Eco-Panda has partnered with Ocean Magazine, the nations newest “green” magazine, to host their Summer 2009 Swimwear Fashion Debut at Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, CA on June 17th, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. This poolside event, at Hard Rock Hotel’s “Float”, features an Eco-Panda runway show for an up-close look at the new wave of swimwear fashion captivating the US.

This is really innovative. It's great to see more and more companies devoting their efforts to creating environmentally responsible products. Clothing companies haven't really been doing that yet but this is a good start.

This is good for every company and organization in each country but we wish to see the amount of waste to landfill reducing over time in every system to be deemed a real success
