Cure In The Canyons II - 2nd Year of Success!

Wednesday, 8 October 2008 09:08 by GreenGirls

We kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by attending Cure In The Canyons II.  We came to this event looking forward to luxurious pampering, but as we spoke to some of the attendees, our focus turned to what this day was really about. Supporting & raising funds for Breast Cancer Research & Awareness.

With close to 700 supporters in attendance, Cure In The Canyons II is a significant event that exemplifies exactly that.

Shannon Tweed, Sophie Tweed Simmons, & Karin Purvis, Founder of Cure In The Canyons

We spoke with celebrities present at Cure In The Canyons II as they shared each of their personal motivations for supporting Breast Cancer Research & Awareness.

The number one cause of soft tissue cancers in the world is nuclear radiation. There's been convincing research to substantiate this assertion. In Germany studies have demonstrated that incidence of breast cancer are 25% higher in close proximity to nuclear power facilities.

The process of uranium enrichment, the deadly toxic radiation all its by-products generate, has spread dangerous radioactive isotopes into the environment which are taking their toll on our genome.

We may be using radiation to cure some cancers, but we're trying to cure this disease with the same weapon which caused the disease in the first place.

The long term effects to radiation exposure are still very poorly understood. Yet, one thing is quite disturbing, the lack of attention being paid to radiation as a cause by many drug sponsored cancer organizations.

Recently, new groups, like the Tooth Fairy Project with Christie Brinkley as its spokesperson, and its sister organization, the Mother's Milk Project, have brought this issue to many leaders in the fashion industry.

We hope your own group will give them some kudos.

Thank you.
