Set the Tone for an Eco Conscious Day

Tuesday, 5 August 2008 09:43 by GreenGirls
So, you've made the decision to live green but don't know where to start.  Simple little habits can get you in the green frame of mind. Try this morning schedule to set the tone for a greener day.

Rise & Shine:
Open your windows. Let the morning breeze cool you & let the sun light your room.  Turn off the A/C & unplug your lamps.

Your Morning Zap:
Skip the drive to the coffee shop.  Brew your own organic coffee & enjoy it out of your own reusable cup.

Save Water:
Take a Navy shower. Get wet. Turn off the water. Soap up. Rinse. Get out.

Reuse:
Use the same towel to dry off all week.  Less laundry, more water saved.

Grub Good:
Eat healthy, local & organic. Fresh in-season fruits with organic cereal & milk will give you a feel good energy to tackle your day.

Avoid Emissions:
Take the bike to school or work. If you sweat easily, bring an extra pair of shirt & some smell good for an immediate fix.  If biking to work is not an option, carpool or take public transportation.

Just like any goal, living green takes planning & preparation.  Prepare your meals, plan out your commute & source of transportation. Be conscious of your day. As time goes on, these practices become habit and ultimately becomes a rewarding lifestyle.
