An Update on Melanie ~ Thank you @CelebrateGreen & @Glamology!

Wednesday, 8 September 2010 12:58 by GreenGirls

We would like to thank Lynn of @CelebrateGreen,  John and Charmaine of @Glamology from the bottom of our hearts for their immense generosity.

Their donation provided medication for Melanie, a 15 year old girl suffering from holes in her heart valve caused by rheumatic fever.  The donation also made it possible for her to see a heart doctor for a very much needed echocardiography screening to determine the severity of her rheumatic heart disease.

For the friends that don't know about Melanie, you can learn more about her on her Chip In page

It was a big relief for Mel and her family to know that her medication is secured for the next few days, but our work isn’t done yet! With her rheumatic heart disease, Melanie is in need of daily pain medication, heart failure medication, monthly antibiotic injections and continuous medical care for the rest of her life. With just a few dollars, you can help provide days worth of medication.  If you haven’t had a moment, please make a donation below.

Your generosity will save Melanie's life.

Please feel free to share her link on your facebook, twitter or share her donation widget. We thank you from the bottom of my hearts for any help you can give.

Once again, a HUGE THANK YOU to our dear friends & Green Girl Gurus Lynn & Charmaine!

Please help Melanie

Monday, 30 August 2010 07:21 by GreenGirls

Melanie is 15 years old and her doctor just told us that she will not live to see her 18th birthday. Mel had a case or Rheumatic Fever which now resulted in Rheumatic Heart Disease. Though the incidence of rheumatic fever/rheumatic heart disease is low in the United States, it continues to be the leading cause of cardiovascular death during the first five decades of life in the developing world.

Melanie Serbano was born on July 18th 1995 in a small province in the Philippines. She has five siblings. Three of them are ages 8, 7 and 5. Melanie's mom is a housekeeper and her dad is a sugar cane farmer, but there wasn't enough income to support her family. In 6th grade, Mel dropped out of school to get a job. She took odd jobs like house keeping and babysitting to bring food on the table for her sisters.

With the recent Rheumatic Fever attack, Mel is now in need of daily pain medication, heart failure medication, monthly antibiotic injections and continuous medical care for the rest of her life.
We are trying to raise funds for Mel's immediate medical needs for heart testing and to secure her daily and monthly medications.

Your donation will save her life.

We have a very small goal of only $2,000 with this fundraiser. We are reaching out to ask for help to Heal Mel's Heart and Save Her Life

Please feel free to share her link on your facebook, twitter or share her donation widget. We thank you from the bottom of my hearts for any help you can give.

Video: One Mother's Plea

Wednesday, 14 July 2010 07:56 by Imani

The first video I created to express the overwhelming, genuine concern when I fully was able to grasp the scope and scale of what is happening on our planet. It was the call to action that motivated me to research the events of the last century that led to the current state of our affairs in an attempt to distill an overall picture...the voice of the Divine Mother flowing through me, urging me to reach out to millions of others - mothers in particular - to tap into their instinctual, intuitive wisdom and collective genius.

We are in a time of great transition and we must move through the disbelief, denial, dread, disillusion and desolation....together we will birth a new kind of humanity.
