Video: Green Youth Movement Green Carpet & Eco Fashion Show

Wednesday, 24 March 2010 07:00 by GreenGirls

We have to give it up for Ally Maize, founder of Green Youth Movement because The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show was burning HAUTE! Along with Eco designers Emily Factor, Lizzie Parker & Lindee Daniel, teen celeb guests, Brittany Curran, Daniel Samonas & Josh Sussman supported the event.

As part of the event, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa accepted the Green Youth Movement 2010 Humanitarian Award from Los Angeles-based nonprofit, the Green Youth Movement. Mayor Villaraigosa was honored for his unprecedented undertaking in making Los Angeles greener, cleaner, and healthier through the Million Trees LA Project. The award was presented by Ally Maize, 17-year-old “green teen” and founder of the Green Youth Movement. The event marks the beginning of a partnership between the Million Trees LA Project and the Green Youth Movement to plant a brighter and healthier tomorrow for Los Angeles.

Video: Brittany Curran of Hit Show Men Of A Certain Age

Sunday, 10 January 2010 10:06 by GreenGirls

Brittany Curran, star of hit show Men Of A Certain Age, has been a supporter of The Green Girls since we first met her just over a year ago.  You'll find her in film & shows like Disney's The Suite Life with Zack and Cody, The Uninvited, 13 Going On 30 and now plays as Ray Romano's daughter on TNT's Men Of A Certain Age

More importantly, you'll find her supporting charities and causes like Girl Prep Hollywood, Holiday Toy Drive, Cupcake For Cancer & of course, The Green Girls Holiday Spectacular to benefit Green Wave & a local shelter. Just before attending our holiday event, she was giving blood at a children's hospital. Need we say more???

Thanks, Brittany for your dedication, friendship & support!

Scott Baio Is Having A Yard Sale!

Monday, 25 May 2009 08:22 by GreenGirls

Scott & Renee Baio are blessed with little Bailey Baio, but the first few days of parenthood joy was hindered with a medical scare. Their newborn tested “positive” for a metabolic disorder known as “G-A 1”.

"As we went through our journey that very long 10 weeks, we discovered that other people are not so blessed. When Bailey was given the all-clear after our initial feelings of joy, we realized clearly that we must not forget those whose miracles were not granted - and that we were obligated by our blessings to try to help others whose lives are being deeply affected by this family of illnesses.", states Scott & Renee on the site's personal note.

The Baios are holding a celebrity baby yard sale to benefit The Bailey Baio Angel Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit to heighten awareness and raise funds for children & families affected by OA's, GA1 and ENBS

Who: Scott Baio joined by celebrity friends & supporters Dennis Quaid, Jason Priestly, Samantha Harris, Tracy Gold, Jeremy Jackson, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Christopher Atkins, Kendra (girls next door), Jason Hervey, Larry Birkhead, Brittany Curran, Daniel Samonas, Keana Texeira, Emily Grace Reaves

What:  Celebrity Baby Yard Sale to benefit The Bailey Baio Angel Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit to heighten awareness and raise funds for children & families affected by OA's, GA1 and ENBS

When:  May 30, 2009 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

The Bailey Baio Angel Foundation Mission: To immediately and effectively heighten awareness on the importance of expanded newborn screening and its availability and necessity for every newborn. Through this testing, when a child is diagnosed with a disorder, steps can be taken immediately to mitigate the problems that go along with these diseases;

To create, promote and facilitate legislation which will mandate this expanded newborn screening for all fifty states; and

To raise funds through promotional activities and sales to support children and families affected with GA1 and other OA’s (organic acidemia metabolic disorders) through the creation of provisional support programs, including food, vitamin and emotional support efforts. With the costs of all these important areas of treatment so exorbitant, it is imperative that insurance companies supply these families with supplements and support they need to live relatively normal lives.

To learn more about OA's, GA1 and ENBS visit the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation.
