Al Gore Places Infant Son In Rocket To Escape Dying Planet

Wednesday, 30 July 2008 15:57 by GreenGirls@TheGreenGirls.com(Green Girls)
As a huge fan of Smallville & Al Gore,.... I'm dyin' over here!

Young Gore sets out for his new home, where the sky is clear, the water is clean, and there are no Republicans.

The Onion reports this historical event:

EARTH—Former vice president Al Gore—who for the past three decades has unsuccessfully attempted to warn humanity of the coming destruction of our planet, only to be mocked and derided by the very people he has tried to save—launched his infant son into space Monday in the faint hope that his only child would reach the safety of another world.

Funky Finds: Fused Plastic

Wednesday, 30 July 2008 12:57 by GreenGirls
Do you have a drawer full of plastic bags collected over the years before the nifty reusable totes came out?

Besides returning them to a recycling bin at your local grocery store, here's another helpfull way to make use of & reuse that unsightly collection. This week's Funky Finds are fused plastics!

As seen on
Etsy, this sterling silver necklace with funky flowers made from fused plastic bags gives it a delicate, yet still sturdy, design.

The plastic bag's other life is the fused plastic tote bag. A tote bag constructed from fused plastic bags and thrifted corduroy suit coat. Lined with recycled vinyl table cloth. You can create your own funkadelic mix of your favorite store logos!

Helpful ideas to make use of the tabooed plastic bags.  Even more helpful,
Etsy Labs gives us a tutorial on how to fuse plastic! Hooray, project!

Funky Finds!

Thursday, 24 July 2008 12:54 by GreenGirls

Eco products with an open mind! Here's this week's funky find!

Poopy Paper Anyone?

UK based company, Creative Paper Wales, has found an innovative way to produce sustainable paper products & that's through sheep poo!

"We don't just make Sheep Poo Paper™ and for our other papers we use waste paper, rag and textile off-cuts and just about anything else we can think of that has good length cellulose fibers in it. Of course, we don't use tree - we like trees."  According to their website. Check out how it's made!  Note: Just don't lick the envelope!

A Do-gooder Till the Very End.

WickerWillowCoffins.co.uk sells 100% biodegradable willow coffins.  Why willow? The willow plant can be harvested annually from the same crown for up to 60 years. Whoa! Talk about being a do-gooder till the very end!

Check back soon for more of The Green Girl's Funky Finds!
