Laura is the co-founder of
Green with Envy Events, a full service event, design and production company that strives to create distinctive, artistic celebrations that incorporate green elements. Green with Envy combines Laura’s love of event planning—a way of preserving the wonderful memories that are created during celebrations of life’s most significant events—with her concern for the impact our choices have on the environment.
After years of planning events for friends and family, Laura became fed up by the industry’s wasteful practices, and she made it her goal to find eco-solutions that would not interfere with her clients’ personal style and vision. Through Green with Envy, Laura believes she can make a meaningful difference while still following her passion. Laura and her partner,
Carlee Gerardi, have compiled a guide titled “What Shade of Green Are You?” which allows their clients to pick just the right level of “green” for their event. While Laura and Carlee do not insist on being green to the detriment of others values, they do encourage their clients to make a few simple, socially responsible choices, and to allow Green with Envy to incorporate those choices into their unique celebration. At Green with Envy Events, they believe events should leave a lasting impression on the guests, not the planet.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys traveling the world with her husband (they always buy carbon offsets), something she hopes to be able to continue after the birth of her baby girl, Siena Marie. Laura is very excited to be a mom, and can’t wait to teach her little one how to be compassionate, to encourage her to stand up for what’s right, to show her how to be her own independent, strong woman, and to dress her in all coolest green fashion for tots…because you are never too young to go green! Laura also enjoys volunteer work, primarily for organizations supporting children’s causes throughout the world.

the planet.
Throughout her life,
Carlee had always
been the designated
event planner for
her friends and
family. Too many
time’s she heard the
words “You should do
this for a living!”
After years of
working in both the
fashion and real
estate industries,
she finally realized
that her true joy
came from organizing
and producing
memorable events in
people’s lives.
While hiking one day
with her long-time
friend Laura Rankin,
the idea for Green
with Envy was born.
Both fresh off their
own wedding planning
experiences, Carlee
and Laura were
appalled at the
wasteful industry
practices that were
too common
throughout. They
immediately launched
Green with Envy
Events, and made it
their mission to
produce compelling
special events that
minimize the impact
on the earth,
without sacrificing
any of their
client’s style and
vision.
Growing up in San
Diego, Carlee
developed a lifelong
love affair with
nature and being
outdoors. In her
mind, being Green is
just good common
sense…so starting a
Green business was a
no-brainer.
Carlee has traveled
in more then 15
countries and has
lived in San Diego,
San Francisco, Lake
Tahoe, The Virgin
Islands, and Los
Angeles. She holds
a Merchandise
Marketing degree
from FIDM and is a
licensed Real Estate
Broker in
California. Outside
of event planning,
Carlee loves
sailing, healthy
living, traveling,
doing yoga, spending
time with her
family, and
spreading the green
word!
